Pinewoods in Late Autumn

The leaves are all down, carpeting the paths with thick layers of rustle. There are few boats out on the pond. But I can testify that Long Pond is still pretty warm, since I was in a capsized sailboat a few weeks ago. The winds get pretty gusty and unpredictable this time of year. Sophie loves the cooler weather, and enthusiastically sniffs out all the night visitors each morning. Apparently there are many, but only she knows for sure.
